Environmental activist Volker Renz has filed a constitutional complaint with the Federal Constitutional Court in Karlsruhe. The reason: The effects of climate change threaten his life and that of the entire population. In his opinion, the existing legal framework is not sufficient to meet Germany's contribution to the climate protection goals negotiated in Paris. Climate activists already consider these goals to be too lenient. The complaint is directed against the federal government for failing to implement effective measures. The court accepts the complaint as admissible and well-founded. While climate activists and their supporters create a stir in Karlsruhe before, during, and after the oral hearing at the Federal Constitutional Court with demonstrations, representatives of the mineral oil industry attempt to heavily influence the ruling.
