In his essay Ex Nihilo - A Tale of Two Cities, the Dutch writer Cees Nooteboom reflects on the city of modernity. Using Brasília and Chandigarh as examples, he examines how these strictly designed models of modern urban planning are altered and utilized by their inhabitants. The accompanying images by photographer Iwan Baan enter into a dialogue with Nooteboom's text. They depict the everyday use of the architecture of master architects Oscar Niemeyer and Le Corbusier by the people who live there. The book is a new edition of our publication Brasília - Chandigarh in German language and a handy format.
