Product details
Landscape is a widely used term in Germany, employed in various contexts—both everyday and scientific. The variability of landscape is often understood as change. In relation to this, its processuality is interpreted in this collection as a special case of change. This special case is more targeted and active in human-shaped landscapes than the passive and undirected change. The concept of process also emphasizes the context-dependence of changes more strongly. The diversity of the over 30 contributions gathered here shows that the mutability and specifically the processuality of landscape can be approached in different ways depending on perspective and objectives. It is not a single foundational concept that promises insights, but rather, depending on the objective, a specific choice or a neopragmatic triangulation. In varying forms, both landscape and process are subjected to classification and systematization—often depending on disciplinary background, resulting in a diversity of perspectives—as a basis for further engagement with the field of landscape as process.
