Land der Wunder

Johannes Schönbach, intellectual and bonsai Casanova, drinks his way through a cesspool called the GDR populated by alcoholics, jokers and bigwigs. He tries to forget that the East Berlin top beauty Katja Kommerell apparently only gets into bed with SED members - at least not with him. When the philology student was condemned to a life as an unskilled worker in a liquor store because of unpleasant remarks, his sense of existence completely disappeared. After the November miracle of 1989, Schönbach enters a casino called the Federal Republic, populated by self-promoters, opinionated whores and end users, swaps his East Berlin hermitage for a Munich penthouse and bizarrely makes a fortune. But the miracles in the life of the notorious Katja-Kommerell-revenant do not end there...
