It's the 1980s, Germany is divided into West Germany and East Germany. In Potsdam lives the music-obsessed Mike, who dreams of a future as a successful musician and a life in freedom alongside his friends Floyd and Porni. Mike's dreams seem to be within reach when he receives acceptance for a music program in Berlin: finally leaving the province, starting a new life in the metropolis, and music is set to play the leading role in his life. However, Mike soon learns what it means to survive as a free spirit in the totalitarian system of East Germany.
