L'âge totalitaire

Sometimes presented as inherent to human nature, totalitarianism is still assimilated to its original representation: absolute control, terror, mensonge d'État, Homme nouveau... The notion has also long been pâti du mythe communiste comme de la diabolisation du fascisme. For a notable part of the intelligentsia, the memory of totalitarianism therefore remains selective, thus giving rise to many different interpretations... That which relates to the idea received for us is true for others.Nevertheless, whether totalitarianism is singular or plural, Bernard Bruneteau reminds us of the importance of historical comparison in order to better understand this era of totalitarianism, which profoundly characterises the 20th century.
