Japon 1932. the judge shigekundi honda, specialised in criminal law, is now trente-huit years old. He finds himself led to recognise in isao the reincarnation of his childhood friend kiyoaki, a tragic hero of the night of spring. idéaliste imbu de vertu patriotique, isao resorts to restoring the samouraï spirit. He takes part in a campaign against the corrupt, who, at the head of trusts and cartels, base their fortune and political power on poverty and misery. no tragedy of any kind (his own father, his mistress Maliko, the military....), did not reveal the purity of isao. he had to wait until the seppuku - a suicide ritual to which mishima himself had given his life, and where malraux saw a way for the man to possess his death.
