La Chola Poblete: Guaymallén

Guaymallén is a municipality in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. It is here that La Chola Poblete, "Artist of the Year" 2023 from Deutsche Bank, was born in 1989. The exhibition at PalaisPopulaire and the accompanying publication Guaymallén are a tribute to her roots and a reflection of her queer identity. The artist's works are among the most significant artistic positions in Latin America. In her pieces, La Chola combines autobiographical elements with cultural aesthetic references and highlights the consequences of colonialism and capitalism in the context of the erasure and stereotyping of indigenous peoples and cultures.
