You can find a reading sample at "https://verlag.sandstein.de/reader/98-628_ChinaAmSaechsHof" When the legendary art collection of Augustus the Strong came into being at the beginning of the 18th century, there was an enthusiastic enthusiasm for China in Europe. In addition to today's world-famous works of porcelain art, more than 1100 Chinese drawings and watercolour paintings on paper and silk, woodcuts and coloured prints were brought to Dresden. Together with around 850 Chinese prints, the Kupferstich-Kabinett of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen holds this important collection. A special feature is the large collection of popular Chinese prints. In China itself, such New Year gifts, congratulatory sheets and theatre scenes were regarded as commodities and were rarely preserved. This richly illustrated volume presents this early and hitherto little-known collection for the first time. In essays and in-depth commentaries, Cordula Bischoff and Anita Xiaoming Wang introduce the art and cultural history of this pictorial world. Literary and pictorial sources and references are illuminated, and a bridge to the present is built with the artistic work "Transformation" by Ines Beyer.
