La Belle Epoque de l'ornement : Genève, 1890-1920

This exhibition aims to bring to the attention of the Genevans, as well as architecture enthusiasts, walkers, and curiosity seekers, a heritage that has become so familiar that it is now forgotten: the collection of graphic and colorful ornaments decorating the façades and entrance halls of many Genevan buildings built between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Completely re-executed with unprecedented precision thanks to vector drawing, these decorations are presented here in their original freshness, inviting the reader to explore the rich vocabulary and infinite variety of their combinations. This graphic dialogue analysis includes a synthesis that retraces the evolution of the architectural and cultural context of Geneva during the Belle Époque and explores the links between industry and artisanship through a stylistic history of ornamentation.
