Product details

L. S. Vygotsky's Pedological Works, Volume 3 offers the first complete translation of the first half of Vygotsky's significant work "Pedology of the Adolescent." This book, which represents the most extensive work of Vygotsky during his lifetime, was written as a distance learning course for teachers throughout the Soviet Union. It addresses the boundaries of pedology and examines the transitions between childhood and adulthood. Vygotsky discusses the differences between basic psychological functions that we share with animals and those that are specific to fully socialized humans. Following an introductory methodological discussion, three types of maturation – general anatomical, sexual, and sociocultural – are explored in depth. This work is part of a series that deals with the pedology of adolescence as a psychological and social issue.
