This master's thesis analyzes selected activities related to the custody of cryptocurrencies in light of Swiss banking supervisory law in its current form following the DLT revision in 2021, which has led to adjustments in a number of laws. It first examines the technical structures of cryptocurrencies and explains fundamental monetary and currency law issues. Subsequently, the licensing requirements under the Banking Act for cryptocurrency-related services are assessed in general, with a particular focus on so-called FinTech companies. The thesis is complemented by an interview with Donat Jösler, founder and chairman of Mogli AG, providing practical insights into the licensing process and the everyday challenges faced by a FinTech company.
