The conference focused on the XI. Amendment to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, whose legislative changes respond to criminal policy needs ranging from gene editing to anti-doping, which are also relevant in German criminal law. In addition to the associated questions, the conference also addressed fundamental legal scientific issues, such as the concept of positive criminal law. It established a genuine comparative legal perspective by alternating presentations from Chinese and German speakers on related topics, and there was also space for comments from both countries after each presentation.
