Small vertebra - big impact. The atlas vertebra is a true marvel: on a minimal surface area, our top cervical vertebra supports the head and provides it with maximum freedom of movement - all in a finely tuned interplay with tendons, muscles, nerves, and fascia. However, due to whiplash injuries and also micro-traumas that often go unnoticed, the atlas frequently loses its optimal position without being detected.
