The individual school faces various, sometimes contradictory guidelines and demands from its environment. Over the past few decades, these have increased in terms of diversity and complexity due to ongoing reform demands in the education sector as well as broader societal developments within modernization processes. This creates opportunities for development for the actors involved in the school – primarily for the teachers – that need to be addressed. This is increasingly happening through collaborative efforts. Elisabeth Baum illustrates how cooperation among teachers is shaped in school development processes and how insights on this can be explained and discussed from organizational theoretical perspectives, based on empirical case studies.
