Good user documentation is tailored to the target audience and task-oriented. Therefore, technical writers focus their research on the key aspects of "target audience," "product," and "activity." But how does one organize the research when the product to be documented is complex and its application occurs within the context of a division of labor? This book presents a systematic method that addresses both circumstances. The first part illustrates the problem.
