At the age of 16, Hanna-Charlotte Blumroth vom Lehn falls ill with anorexia. From then on, her thoughts revolve solely around how to avoid food and accelerate her weight loss. She increasingly withdraws into herself, and her family and friends react helplessly and with deep concern to Hanna's physical and emotional changes. When her underweight becomes life-threatening, her mother takes her to a clinic, marking the first of four inpatient stays and the beginning of a long journey of suffering.

The diary entries of Hanna-Charlotte Blumroth vom Lehn are a painful confrontation with her illness and her attempt to understand it.
