Nowadays, many people make phone calls anytime and anywhere from their mobile phones. However, this freedom and mobility is countered by the fact that a call can be disruptive or occur in inappropriate situations. There are already numerous studies addressing the topic of context notifications. This report focuses on optimizing context notifications for mobile communication. It examines previous approaches and a survey on mobile phone usage behavior results in a context catalog composed of significant context categories. According to the respondents, these categories include being on the go, location, job, and appointments. In the subsequent user tests, these categories are compared using a traffic light representation as an availability indicator. The results show that a combination of both options represents the optimal context notification. Additionally, the report highlights that privacy protection is critically important, and for this reason, respondents are skeptical about the use of context notifications. On the other hand, they are willing to disclose at least some private information.
