This standard work, which has proven itself in practice and in studies, provides the basics for the new and further development of technical products, for the standardization of products and for the automation of product-specific design processes. It focuses on a comprehensive, product-neutral description of design elements and the design process, as well as descriptions of product-specific (special) design processes, the standardization of products, the standardization and automation of processes, product planning and task definition, and information systems about technical products. In order to clarify the theory, emphasis was placed on numerous practical examples.
