Learning and understanding machine and construction elements, which still have a manageable complexity, promotes comprehension of the essential features of higher technical structures and, consequently, an understanding of the physical, logical, and technical systems they are based on. This learning creates the prerequisite for the design and development of a product. The two textbooks and the accompanying exercise book cover the entire content of university education. The involvement of recognized specialists in the author team, who also conduct research in the field of machine elements, ensures high expertise in the individual topics. The present second volume, now in its 9th edition, includes chapters on friction, wear and lubrication, bearings, sliding bearings and rolling bearings, as well as seals, an introduction to drive systems, and chapters on couplings and brakes, gears and gearboxes, traction drive systems, friction drive systems, as well as sensors and actuators. The two volumes of the textbook encompass the entire spectrum of typical construction and machine elements. The 9th edition contains minor corrections and additions. A new layout has been implemented in the 9th edition to better support reading on modern reading devices.
