Konstruieren mit SolidWorks

This book serves as both an introduction to virtual 3D design - MCAD - and a guide to the SolidWorks software package. It is primarily intended for self-study but can also be used as a supplementary resource for training and education, as well as a reference work.

Thirteen detailed workshops with increasing levels of difficulty address the interplay between 2D and 3D and the diverse design possibilities of the software. SolidWorks 2017 was used for the constructions, but the examples can also be built using earlier versions.

The reader will first learn the proper definition of sketches for profiles and cross-sections – the fundamentals of MCAD. From this, they will create 3D components, construct variants using tables, automate geometry through equations, insert standard parts such as screws and bearings, and finally assemble everything into a virtual, movable machine. In doing so, they will learn to design parts in the context of an assembly. The derivation of standard-compliant 2D drawings and the setup of automatic drawing templates are also thoroughly demonstrated.

The DVD contains the exercise and result files for all examples. With their help, users can immediately dive into any chapter. The files have been saved not only in SolidWorks 2021 but also in earlier versions. This makes the book fully usable for all versions since 2017.
