The vibrant traditions are preserved and creatively expressed in this book. The variety of imaginative figures knows no bounds. Whether locals or "Innigschmeckte": everyone marvels at the richness of facets that is unparalleled. Dietmar Bronner from Constance is among those creatives. What sets him apart: he loves the carnival in its entirety. Together with photographers Sven Messmer and Gladys Thomalla, he aims to pay great tribute to his hometown and all those engaged in carnival, to provide a bit of enlightenment, and to spread the carnival virus further. In addition to a historical overview, Constance's carnival sayings have been compiled, and personalities who contributed to the revival after World War II have been highlighted. The book is divided into: 17 carnival societies and subgroups, 97 mask-wearing clubs and groups, 11 non-mask-wearing clubs and groups, as well as five music groups without further club affiliation. Dietmar Bronner is aware that this compendium is merely a snapshot, as new groups and mask-wearers enrich the lively Constance carnival every year. The three were supported by text contributions from Paul Bischof, Kurt Köberlin, Aurelia Scherrer, Uli Topka, and Markus Weber. The Mayor of Constance, Uli Burchardt, introduces the book with his foreword.
