Modern working environments are increasingly characterised by flexibilisation and dissolution of boundaries, promoted by a globally networked economy and advancing digitalisation. At the same time, what has already been well researched and confirmed in the mostly analogue work context applies once again in the digitalised world of work: cooperation and collaboration have positive effects on the quality and productivity of our working lives. How is it possible to promote connectivity and interconnectedness in a dynamic and increasingly digitalised world of work? What are the prerequisites for balancing the tension between competition and cooperation in favour of successful collaboration? Who will we cooperate with in the future? And what do we know about cooperation with non-human actors? From the perspective of different disciplines, the tenth volume of the series "University - Society - Industry" provides impulses for successful interpersonal cooperation in the virtual world of work and discusses with whom and how we will cooperate in the future in view of digital innovations. The authors analyse how strategic alliances can contribute to solving the social and ecological challenges of the present and the future and show how cooperation in the field of education, further education and research can be launched in a goal-oriented manner.
