Kommunikative Gattungen und Events

This volume brings together a series of contributions from sociology, linguistics and communication studies that examine communicative genres and events in contemporary society. The volume pursues several goals with these contributions. Firstly, it shows how fruitful the analysis of communicative genres developed over 30 years ago still is. Secondly, as a number of works show, it can also be applied to the mediatised forms of communication that have emerged in the course of the recent wave of digitalisation. In contrast to the mostly reconstructive methods of social science, it is characterised above all by process data generated in situ and thus highly valid, which are not essentially dictated by the researchers, but document the investigated processes in the data material. Their methodological focus on real-world practices, courses of action and communication processes has, thirdly, created a special research focus that revolves around what can be described as an event. In addition to numerous empirical contributions, the volume also contains several contributions that systematically present the concepts of the genre and the event.
