Product details
The foundation of structural systems is regulated by DIN 1054 and the supplementary basic construction standards listed in the Technical Building Regulations. According to this, pure pile foundations or pure shallow foundations can be designed and executed.
The combination of both foundation elements, pile and foundation slab, has not been regulated until now. This gap is filled by the "Guideline for the Design, Calculation, and Construction of Combined Pile-Slab Foundations" - abbreviated as "KPP Guideline."
This book supplements the KPP Guideline with the "Appendix to the KPP Guideline," which consists of two parts:
Part A: On the "Mechanical Model" and "Safety Provisions"
Part B: Calculation Examples.
The appendix provides the professional community with background information on the "Mechanical Models," "Safety Considerations on a Probabilistic Basis," and includes two practical examples.
The first example addresses the internal and external stability of the foundation of a bridge pier. Four foundation variants are discussed in detail, highlighting the application range of the KPP.
The second example deals with the external stability of the foundation of an office building. Three foundation variants are considered. The calculation of internal stability is omitted here, as it does not provide new insights. Since the calculation process for determining external stability is analogous to that of the first example, only the results are presented here.
The results of both examples for determining external stability also serve as "benchmark examples" for verifying simplified calculation approaches.
