Product details
The long history of colonialism has gone through various phases, each merging into the next according to the development of productive power: From the slave-owning societies of antiquity to the heyday of European explorers and plunderers and their heirs in capitalism. It extends all the way to the imperial and neo-colonial conquistadors of modernity, who make use of traditional colonialist methods in the name of 'globalisation'. And modern colonialism is, according to the long-standing Bolivian president Evo Morales, the 'political and ideological twin' of imperialism. Both are experiencing a new bloom with the current recolonisation and at the same time openly display their violent nature. On the other hand, colonial repression was always accompanied by resistance, which achieved decolonisation at times in the 20th century. However, the liberation movements that characterised this phase have not yet found their current counterparts. The search is on: New forms of internationalism and solidarity.
