Unterricht bei Zwei- und Mehrsprachigkeit

Involving young people who still need to learn the German language in our school system currently presents many teachers with significant challenges. They must teach students with German as a second language (DaZ) in very heterogeneous groups. The foundation for successful teaching is engagement with language - both with the target language German and with the diverse native languages. This is where this book begins. The learners, with their varying backgrounds, are the focus of another foundational chapter. Essential principles, concepts, methods, and practical materials for DaZ instruction are then presented. Subsequently, the areas of competence in listening and speaking, reading, and writing are addressed. Detailed implementation options for the classroom are discussed extensively.
