Product details

Bionergetic Analysis and Therapy (BAT) is rooted in psychoanalysis and is one of the oldest body psychotherapy schools of modern times. The International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis (IIBA) was founded in 1956 by Alexander Lowen, John Pierrakos and William Walling in New York. For historical-political reasons, BAT has developed predominantly in non-university fields - but probably also because the strongholds of our science are generally characterized by pronounced top-heaviness. Much of the bioenergetic literature has traditionally been addressed to a broader audience in more popular scientific writings. Beginning with Volume 1 of the series "Body & Soul" (Dagmar Hoffmann-Axthelm [ed.]), an effort was launched to reconnect bioenergetic analysis with academic psychotherapeutic currents. This special volume represents an attempt to relate central concepts of this psychosomatic approach to current theoretical positions and research results in academic psychology and medicine. For decades, the influx of patients and training candidates was "proof of effectiveness" enough. However, due to the professional political developments of the last years, Bioenergetic Analysis and Therapy now also has to undergo an intensified obligation of proof and legitimation. Exploring the connection between body and soul, or their principled indivisibility, is the central concern here, which should not be lost in current trends toward "General" or "Empirically Validated" psychotherapy. Contributions: I. On the Foundations I. Michel, M. Koemeda-Lutz, Family Tree on the History of Bioenergetic Analysis P. Schindler, History and Development of Bioenergetic Analysis A. Klopstech, Psychoanalysis and body-oriented psychotherapy in dialogue A. Klopstech, Models of therapeutic action: the psychoanalytic.
