Caregivers work very closely with people. But what perception of the body do caregivers have? How do they interact with it? How does this affect care outcomes? What role does the concept of the body play in this context? Using the example of the practical issue of body image disturbance, these and other questions are answered by competent professionals. Caregivers encounter people daily who have changes in body image, such as a young woman who needs to undergo a mastectomy, an older man who comes out of surgery with a stoma, and a man who has suffered a stroke. Caregivers meet individuals who are dealing with negatively perceived changes to their bodies due to disabilities, illnesses, and developmental crises.
