There are around 24,000 outpatient and inpatient facilities in Germany. All of them rely on funding from long-term care insurance: the higher the care level, the more money flows in. Currently, things are going well, as the automatic transition from care levels to grades has secured revenues. However, this will not last: in all future classifications, the care grades will be lower. Therefore, the income of outpatient and inpatient care facilities will decrease in the future, which will also affect staffing levels and ultimately the quality of care. Unless the facilities possess the expert knowledge necessary for the correct (preferably high) classification to work—care grade management is in demand! The term "care grade management" or care grade manager is new (as is the issue of declining revenues), but expertise in this area will be vital for the approximately 24,000 inpatient and outpatient facilities in the future.
