The plot is captivated by violence. The assassination in Olympia creates a hypnotic intensification. Crowds want to witness the hostage situation in real time. Hidden conflicts also simmer within high society. In the interplay of hatred, envy, and sexual obsession, an unrestrained drive for destruction is unleashed. The hostage-taking increasingly leads to intimate violence within the context of a social scene. Jealousy between Johanna's husband Rudolf and her admirer, the composer Matfried, intensifies ominously. The vain, treacherous musician unsuccessfully tries to tear Johanna away from her family. However, Johanna fears the revenge of her seducer. He, in conjunction with a pedophilic cultural critic, accuses Johanna's favorite son Albert of theft. Shortly thereafter, Johanna becomes a victim of murder. The composer’s absence from her funeral is noticeable, but he has a perfect alibi. The suspicion of the crime, following arbitrary investigations, is directed towards her husband Rudolf. Existence becomes a form of captivity for him. Even in times of peace, war lurks everywhere. The incessant adaptation to the status quo conceals existence.
