An apprenticeship as a cook in the Wendelinusstube in Sinzig-Koisdorf is his last chance. However, Max gets fired and ends up on the streets. He must confront poverty, homelessness, and failure. But he also experiences unexpected friendship and a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel. Fear seems foreign to him, and possessions mean nothing. His father, on the other hand, is a showman from a milieu of outrageously expensive furniture, unaffordable restaurants, and choleric bravado. As people, father and son could hardly be more different, but one thing seems to bind them ever more closely together: their open hearts for the joys of life.
