The manual on bone tumors and soft tissue sarcomas provides information on diagnostics and therapy, covering both primary and recurrent treatment as well as follow-up care. It offers detailed descriptions of surgical therapy, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. While bone and soft tissue tumors are rare, the group of tumors is very heterogeneous. Treatment concepts are usually multimodal, depending on histology, resectability, expected functional loss, age, and comorbidity. Treatment is interdisciplinary, typically conducted at specialized centers. Specific chapters are dedicated to the more common tumors: osteosarcomas, chondrosarcomas, and Ewing sarcomas, as well as the treatment of soft tissue sarcomas in children and adolescents. New chapters have been added to the manual covering pathogenesis, orthopedic rehabilitation, and palliative medicine. All chapters have been revised and updated interdisciplinary to facilitate concrete treatment planning for patients with bone tumors and soft tissue sarcomas for the treating physicians.
