Danish forensic anthropologist Josefine Jespersen is called to Gotland to examine some Stone Age skeletons found during excavations. But when Josefine takes a closer look at a female skull, she makes a gruesome discovery: the woman was killed only a few years ago - and inside her skull is the bone of another person. The trail leads Josefine and detective inspector Alexander Damgaard to an old missing persons case. And when two more women are murdered, it is clear: Josefine and Damgaard are chasing a perfidious serial killer ....
