Otto Walter: Rickenbach

Otto Walter (1889–1944) was born in Mümliswil into a family of manufacturers. At the age of 23, he took over the editorial leadership of the Catholic youth magazine Die Schildwache am Jura, where he was able to realize his Catholic-conservative ideas. Later, he founded the Walter Publishing House in Olten, which he developed into one of the most prestigious publishing houses in the German-speaking world. However, Otto Walter was much more than just a publisher: he was a printer, editor, and writer. He was also a member of the Solothurn Cantonal Council and served in the National Council for fourteen years. In this book, he compellingly recounts the pioneering days of Swiss aviation and his friendship with the flying ace Oskar Bider.
