The number of migrants and refugees attending mental health centres as patients is steadily increasing in line with their growing share of the population. This work aims to enable psychotherapists to provide effective intercultural psychotherapeutic work. In the 2nd edition, the focus has been expanded to include refugees, as required by the wars in Syria and Ukraine and the subsequent refugee movements. This textbook and practical guide therefore describes psychotherapy with the largest migrant groups in German-speaking countries: Turkish, Polish, former Yugoslavian, Syrian and Ukrainian. The lifeworlds and ethnosociocultural backgrounds of these migrants are analysed as well as the cultural imprint of psychological symptom formation and intercultural collective transmission mechanisms. In addition to an overview of social and migration psychology theory, the book contains a summary of current research findings and illustrative case reports.
