Klimaethik

A highly relevant textbook for school, university, and self-study: Dieter Birnbacher is considered one of the most influential German climate ethicists. His 2016 introduction is now available in a completely revised edition – sections on intergenerational justice and the changes in public awareness in recent years have been rephrased.

Industrialized countries bear the main responsibility for changes in the global climate. The asymmetry between causation and impact is particularly problematic here. Climate ethics, in this context, focuses on the question of the scope of moral obligations and their consequences for countries, groups, and individuals.
