With this edition, Ernst Jünger's diary entries from World War I are accessible for the first time in paperback – a unique literary and historical document and an editorial sensation.

Ernst Jünger's frontline report "In Stahlgewittern" is, alongside Erich Maria Remarque's novel "All Quiet on the Western Front," the most famous German-language book about World War I. However, the "Stahlgewitter" is not purely a fictional work; it is based on the fifteen diary notebooks that Jünger kept continuously during the war, from his first trip to the front at the turn of 1914/15 to his last injury in August 1918. This allows for a precise tracking of how Jünger psychologically processed and gradually literary-ized his war experiences.
