This selection focuses on the themes of love and friendship. It gathers the most important poems addressed to Lesbia, as well as to Ameana and Iuventius, along with poems dedicated to friends and about the death of the brother. The Hymn to Diana, included in the appendix of the edition, further illustrates the significance of poetry in another ancient context, namely in relation to religion and cult.
