The presentation focuses on the general principles of procedure, the preliminary proceedings and the main hearing in the first instance. In the appellate proceedings, the focus is on the appeal. First, there is an outline of the subject matter, then the rather abstract-looking material is clearly conveyed to the learner on the basis of cases. Each chapter is followed by repetition and consolidation questions that allow for targeted learning control. As a supplement, the sections on legal history and the European perspective highlight the special legal-political interest of criminal procedural law. The book is aimed both at students who want to acquire the compulsory material for the First State Examination and at students in the specialisation area. In addition, trainee lawyers who have to deal with criminal procedure in more detail during their station training are provided with a solid toolkit. For the 7th edition, a total of ten amendments to the law have been taken into account, in particular the provisions on electronic legal transactions, telecommunications law and the extension of the possibility of a retrial to the disadvantage of the convicted person.
