In view of the worsening shortage of skilled workers, career and competence development as a means of retaining highly competitive skilled workers and know-how carriers is increasingly becoming the focus of sustainable corporate development. The book offers a systematic review of the international state of research and pointed scientific considerations. The authors also present the results of their own empirical surveys based on qualitative interviews with managers, HR managers and highly qualified employees in knowledge-based fields of activity. Based on this, an innovative career management model has been developed that takes into account the diversity of career types at the employee level and illustrates them using the example of company case studies.
