Karl Popper

Sir Karl Raimund Popper (1902-1994), born in Vienna, is considered one of the most significant philosophers of modern times. He is the inventor of critical rationalism, and his epistemological method of falsificationism has been widely adopted in many fields. The principle of trial and error that he developed has become a maxim for countless individuals and institutions. He demanded that he and his colleagues formulate ideas clearly and understandably, and he questioned and refuted many theories and ideologies, including communism. Karl Popper, knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1965, garnered many followers but also faced numerous opponents and was often misunderstood and vilified.
