Product details
In the work of designer Karl Clauss Dietel, the potential of industrial design is explored, which during the GDR era was committed to the ideals of a humanistic-social society. Key concepts of Dietel, such as "use patina" and "the open principle," have lost none of their significance to this day, and "poetic-functional" forms, which he developed with Lutz Rudolph for Heliradio, Wartburg and Trabant, Simson Suhl, or Robotron as a freelance designer, are among the enduring, outstanding works of East German modernism. Karl Clauss Dietel (born 1934) worked as a freelance designer in collaboration with Lutz Rudolph for private and nationalized enterprises in the GDR. Lutz Rudolph (1936-2011) worked at the Central Institute for Design in Berlin and as a freelance designer from 1968 to 2000.
