Kardio-Onkologie

This new pocket guideline from the DGK is a German adaptation of the '2022 ESC Guidelines on Cardio-Oncology' and includes the results of a comprehensive review of existing medical knowledge and clinical study data regarding the care of cancer patients in relation to their cardiovascular health and well-being before, during, and after cancer treatment. The following topics are addressed in the pocket guideline: risk stratification of cardiovascular toxicity before the start of cancer therapy, prevention and monitoring of cardiovascular complications during the application of various treatment regimens, e.g., during VEGFi or Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitor therapy, potential cardiovascular complications of oncological therapies: impaired myocardial function and heart failure, coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, arterial hypertension, thromboembolic diseases, peripheral vascular disease and stroke, pulmonary hypertension, long-term follow-up programs for cancer survivors (aftercare, counseling, support), as well as the treatment of special populations, e.g., pregnant patients with cancer.
