Product details

The first two volumes of Giwi Margwelaschwili's autobiographical novel "Captain Wakusch" have long been out of print and much sought after in second-hand bookshops. Now they are finally available again! In the first volume, "In Deuxiland", he describes his youth as a foreigner in the Third Reich. But he is not only an exile in Germany as a jazz lover who indulges in forbidden music in the jazz bar "Kakadu", he is also a youthful rebel. The first volume ends with the end of the war, the second volume "Sachsenhäuschen" picks up the thread again now Wakusch, Margwelaschwili's alter ego, is suddenly a prisoner of the Soviets. After an odyssey through various dungeons, he is taken to the notorious Special Camp No. 7, the former concentration camp Sachsenhausen. There he experiences misery and humiliation, but also bright spots, such as a theatre performance.
