Roberto picked us up at the old Ceramica workshop in Vietri sul Mare. Previously, he had been waiting for us at the new Ceramica workshop. After 20 minutes, we were able to meet at the old workshop. We had a pleasant conversation with Roberto, a 60-year-old Italian. He had lived in the USA for ten years, so communicating in English was no problem for him. He drove us in his white Subaru minibus to the Palazzo Suriano Heritage Hotel. The Via Madonna dell'Arco street can only be accessed by an extremely narrow vehicle. At house number 30, we stood before a charming entrance. Like all entrances, there was a colorful naive ceramic plaque here as well. There are also traces of German ceramics to admire. The town of Vietri sul Mare belongs to the province of Salerno in the Campania region. The colorful ceramic tiles are handmade and inspire the viewer with a variety of different motifs.

The first glance into the garden resembled an oasis with lemon trees and other Mediterranean plants. As soon as you turn towards the sea, you see the Gulf of Salerno and marvel at the deep blue sea along the Amalfi Coast. Boats with sightseers can be seen, and bathing guests are happily swimming in the shallow water at the beach. Roberto led us to our accommodation on the upper floor of the villa. After we freshened up, we were able to explore the entire estate. My son Christoph wanted to relax only in the terrace gardens until dinner. I dared to take a walk through the narrow alley to the beach on the very first early evening. The stone steps and house walls radiated a dry warmth in the summer heat. However, I couldn't stay long, as Carlo, the hotel owner, had reserved a table for us both at a seafood restaurant at 10 PM. The way back to our hotel was tiring. Arrivederci Vietri sul Mare.
