Product details

Martin van Creveld is regarded as the most significant Israeli military expert. His theses on the future of warfare have gained international attention. His book "Combat Power: Military Organization and Military Performance 1939-1945" is considered a standard work on World War II and has been published in three editions. Now, with a current preface by the author, it is available in an expanded new edition. In this work, he compares the German Wehrmacht in terms of organization, training, doctrine, tactics, and operational art with the Allied forces, demonstrating that it was superior to its opponents in these respects. Creveld also describes the discipline and morale of its soldiers as exemplary in his highly factual study. As a Jew who lost parts of his family in Nazi concentration camps, Creveld is far from attempting to downplay the crimes of the Nazi regime; however, he also maintains that the Wehrmacht as such was not a criminal organization. Therefore, he stated in an interview that in terms of strategy, organization, and doctrine, no army of the 20th century resembled the Wehrmacht more than the Israeli army. A standard work on the history of World War II is now available again!.
