The volume contains five chapters: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, Modern Times, the 19th Century, and the 20th Century. Each chapter offers a lexicon that clearly and concisely presents the various movements, artists, and genres, as well as a series of thematic units that can serve as the basis for cross-epoch and cross-genre teaching phases or facilitate the comparison of artworks or artists, such as illusionism in the early Renaissance: Mantegna or the opera houses of Paris and Dresden.
