With the intensification of socio-ecological crises, the debates around their solutions are also increasing. Often, a strategy of green modernization is pursued: Our capitalist growth society can remain as it is if we optimize it technologically and energetically. This attempt to stabilize the prevailing mode of production and way of life comes at a cost. Whether it’s resource conflicts in the Global South, authoritarian tendencies in liberal democracies, upheavals in the labor market, or the stalled mobility transition - the contributors explore central socio-ecological transformation conflicts of the present and dare to envision how transformation can be thought and shaped differently.
