This volume theoretically justifies, practically develops, empirically evaluates, and didactically interprets a support procedure for the risk group of weak readers. The intervention study documents and evaluates a cooperative reading-aloud method, the reading-aloud tandems. It was examined whether reading fluency improves in the medium and long term and whether transfer effects occur on text comprehension, reading motivation, and the reading-related self-concept of the learners. According to the results of major school performance studies, reading promotion has become a central educational policy and school practice topic in public and subject-didactic discussions. The poor performance of secondary school students in these studies is particularly concerning.
